Meet Ava Robbins (she/her)
Limited Licensed Therapist and Trauma Specialist
Hi, I’m Ava! I’m a therapist who works with teens and adults. Therapy with me is collaborative and relationship-centered. I am trained in EMDR (learn more here!), and I draw from parts work, mindfulness, psychodynamic therapy, and attachment-based therapy. To put it simply, I help people make sense of their experiences and reconnect with themselves.
My path into this work began at my local women’s shelter, where I supported survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. That experience informs how I approach therapy - with care and a deep respect for how people survive difficult experiences.
My background is in social work, which means I value paying close attention to context such as the relationships, identities, and broader social systems that influence how we understand ourselves and our experiences.
You deserve a space where all of who you are is welcomed.
Life has a way of piling on more than we ever feel prepared for. When the present feels overwhelming, it can awaken old hurts you’ve tried to cope with on your own. Maybe you’re noticing emotions that feel too big, patterns you can’t seem to shift, or a sense that you’re “just getting through the day” instead of truly living it. You may feel disconnected, ashamed, exhausted, or unsure where to turn next. If this sounds like you, you don’t have to sort through any of this alone- I want to support you!
More About My Work

Therapy Indoors, Outdoors, or Online
I meet clients in person at my Ann Arbor office, outdoors at a local park, or online with clients anywhere in Michigan!
Adult & Childhood Trauma
Trauma can shape how you feel about yourself, others, and the world. I help clients process the impacts of both childhood and adult trauma at a pace that feels safe and supportive.
Attachment and Relational Wounds
Our experiences in relationships impact how we connect. I help clients notice and work through patterns that affect how closeness and safety feel.

What is EMDR?
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing. It is an evidence-based treatment for a wide range of mental health struggles. Learn more about it here!
Anxiety Support
Anxiety can keep your body on high alert, which can feel so depleting. Therapy with me can help you feel more grounded and settled.
